13th

For this week’s documentary we watched 13th. This is a documentary about the 13th amendment, which states that is unconstitutional to be held as a slave, however there is a bypass for this in today’s day which are criminals, and we treat these criminals like slaves. The incarceration rate for the black community is extremely high. Once they get incarcerated it is extremely hard for them to start their life after jail. Employees are less likely to hire you, so even life after jail is harsh and they are left with no work experience and turned to poverty. I really love the layout of this documentary their visuals including the graphs to show numbers really helped me learn more being a visual learner. Not only to learn but also to see the actual hardships of these people who are being incarcerated. I am grateful they made this documentary to educate people, just like myself on this important topic.
